BIOGRAPHY
Irma Muñoz is the Executive Vice President of Growth & Operations at Pahara Institute at Lone Rock.
Irma brings more than two decades of experience guiding organizational growth and transformation in the education sector. She co-founded and serves as co-Executive Director of the FOX (Finance and Operations Excellence) Fellowship, a one-of-a-kind leadership program for COOs and CFOs in high-performing education organizations nationwide. Most recently, Irma was Chief of Schools for NewGlobe, overseeing the performance of nearly 6,000 schools across 11 regions in Africa and Southeast Asia. She previously served as Chief Operating Officer for IDEA Public Schools. In this capacity she helped expand the network from 3 schools to 139 across 11 different regions throughout Texas, Louisiana, Ohio and Florida. Prior to joining IDEA, Irma worked for GMAC, the financial arm of General Motors. In this capacity she oversaw housing development in emerging markets and spearheaded investment strategy in Latino hubs around the country. Before joining GMAC, Irma worked with Fannie Mae and the World Bank to implement a variety of housing policy initiatives throughout Latin America, including the development of Mexico’s first securitization platform. Her work led to the issuance of this country’s first mortgage back security and ultimately the establishment of a secondary mortgage market.
Irma is a graduate of the University of California, Davis. She was awarded the Woodrow Wilson Public Policy Fellowship and obtained her MA from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Irma is a proud immigrant from Guadalajara, Mexico (home of tequila and mariachi bands). She is married to Oscar and is the proud mom to Olivia Natalia (12yrs going on 30 – help!), and Cruz Mateo, a college freshman. The Chapa- Muñoz family lives along the US-Mexico border in deep South Texas.
