BIOGRAPHY

Kenneth Campbell is the Southern Louisiana Executive Director for IDEA Public Schools, one of the nation’s leading charter management organizations. In this role, he is responsible for launching IDEA’s first schools outside of the state of Texas and for building a network of high-performing college-preparatory charter schools that serve students and families across south Louisiana. Prior to his role with IDEA, Ken served as the President of Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) from 2010-2015. Under Ken’s leadership, BAEO not only continued to help protect and strengthen parental choice programs in key states across the country, but also helped to spearhead efforts to launch new parental choice efforts in the southern United States. Ken also worked formerly as the Director of Charter Schools for the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), where he was responsible for creating many of the systems, policies and best practices that created a high-quality charter sector in Louisiana in the years following Hurricane Katrina. Ken’s expertise as a former charter authorizer, a passionate and committed education reformer, and a relentless advocate for policies and procedures that empower low-income children and families is widely recognized and highly coveted. Ken and his wife live in Louisiana, and they are the proud parents of a son serving on active duty in the United States Army.
