Learning to read is complex because human beings were never born to read. Our brains must be intentionally rewired and reformed to read, requiring consistent, high-quality instruction. That’s how a “reading brain” develops. Simply put, reading teachers are neurosurgeons who need the right tools to address the complexities of teaching reading. Bloom is that tool.
Bloom is an early reading app aligned to cognitive research on how children learn to read and will teach students the foundational reading skills required to develop into strong readers. We are building a groundbreaking approach to digital learning that will reach one million students in the next five years through the power of automatic speech recognition technology and the magic of human-centered instruction.
Bloom is a funded Pre-Seed company that grew out of a non-profit organization that coaches school and system leaders to build, implement, and sustain reading ecosystems that live at the intersection of research and instructional equity. Bloom is being incubated at Workshop Ventures, a venture studio that partners with founders to build startups. Together, we are building out the team that will shape the lives of students across the country.
