BIOGRAPHY
Charles Hokanson is President and CEO of Hokanson Consulting Group, a consultancy he recently reestablished to provide strategic management, policy and advocacy, and community engagement counsel to nonprofits, foundations, and education institution clients.
From 2014-2023, he served as a Senior Vice President at Helios Education Foundation, a public charity focused on ensuring all students in the states of Arizona and Florida have opportunities for success in postsecondary education. Previously, Charles also served as President or Executive Vice President of three national education reform nonprofits, as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for elementary and secondary education and in two Chief of Staff roles in the U.S. Department of Education, and as a professional staff member on the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
He currently serves as board chair of Hostelling International USA, immediate past board chair of the Florida Education Foundation, and co-chair of Leadership Florida's education advisory committee, as well as a member of the Teach for America Central Florida advisory board, the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations strategic advisory board, and the Early Learning Florida advisory board. Charles earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.P.P. from Harvard Kennedy School, and M.A. and B.A. degrees from Stanford University.
