Anokhi Saraiya is the Chief Academic Officer of KIPP North Carolina Public Schools, a network of public K-12 charter schools serving both rural and urban communities across North Carolina. Over the last three years, she has supported the merger of two distinct regions (KIPP Charlotte and KIPP Eastern North Carolina) into one state-wide organization. Specifically, she drives the aligned teaching and learning vision for over 3,000 students and 400 staff across eight campuses.

Anokhi has been with the KIPP organization for almost 15 years as a teacher, school principal, and regional leader in both New York City and North Carolina. In 2011, she founded KIPP Washington Heights Elementary School, the first elementary charter school in Washington Heights, New York City. Prior to joining KIPP, Anokhi spent seven years in the New York City public schools as a teacher and instructional coach at PS 8M in Washington Heights. As a lifelong educator, Anokhi continues to drive towards the goal that all students have excellent educational experiences filled with “a-ha” moments of learning that lead to choice, opportunity, independence, and empowerment.

Anokhi graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in religion with a minor in education from Bryn Mawr College. She earned a Master of Science in childhood education from Bank Street College of Education and received a Master of Education in leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. She currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
