BIOGRAPHY

Betsy Peterson currently works to catalyze the human potential through strategic, equitable, and inclusive leader development that supports diverse and effective senior leaders in school systems and organizations. She became passionate about supporting leaders in her former role as Chief Schools Officer at STRIVE Prep, a network of open-enrollment, public charter schools. Betsy’s work as Chief Schools Officer included leading and managing principals and principal managers, designing and leading the annual strategic planning process, and ensuring organizational collaboration and alignment. Before this, Betsy was the founding principal of STRIVE Prep – Highland, which was part of a school turnaround effort in North Denver; Highland was the #1 ranked middle school in Denver Public Schools in 2012. Betsy was a founding member of the STRIVE Prep (West Denver Prep) team, and as a seventh grade math teacher, she led her students to achieve the highest math growth in Colorado. As a Boettcher Scholar, Betsy attended the University of Denver, where she earned a BA in international studies and studied abroad at the London School of Economics, Cambridge University, and the University of Malta. She also holds a Masters of Education in instructional school leadership from the Relay Graduate School of Education. Betsy loves spending time with her family, laughing, cooking, and wandering through nature.
