BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Jeremiah Newell is the Chief Executive Officer of the Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF), a 30-year-old education non-profit, whose mission is to realize bold solutions that dramatically improve the success of youth across South Alabama. MAEF has invested more than $40 million in public education and mobilized thousands of citizens to both expect more and do more for its public education system.
Prior to his work as CEO, Jeremiah served as the founder and Superintendent of ACCEL Academy, Alabama’s first public charter school and served as a Harvard Fellow and Chief of Staff for the Rhode Island Department of Education. Jeremiah has also taught at the high school level, launched and led innovative school models, and directed secondary school turnaround efforts.
Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/Language Arts from the University of South Alabama, a Master of Science in School Leadership from the University of South Alabama, and the Doctor of Education Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
