2026
VITALITY PROGRAM
An exploration of physical health in support of your vitality.
VISION &
CONTEXT
Vitality at Pahara Institute redefines leadership development by connecting physical health and wellness to leadership capacity. Leaders build the clarity, energy, and stamina needed to sustain their impact—strengthening cardiovascular and metabolic health, sharpening cognitive performance, and cultivating resilience—so they can lead powerfully and thrive in their lives, both personally and professionally.
Designed in partnership with medical experts, including Dr. Rachel Carlton Abrams, the 2026 Vitality Program is a 6-month experience that will guide Pahara Fellows through a deep exploration of their physical health in pursuit of meaningful solutions that support their vitality. The 2026 program will focus on metabolic health, cardiovascular health, and hormones.
This program is open to Pahara Fellows who have completed their Pahara Fellowship journey by the time of the program start date.

“I have never seen such dramatic change in a cohort of people as I have in the Pahara Vitality Pilot. The dramatic decrease in symptoms and improved inflammation, blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure - are not just remarkable - they are life-changing and life-saving for our Fellows and for their families.”

“This journey has deepened my belief that adult vitality is not peripheral, it is foundational to the flourishing of our entire learning community.”
-Vitality Pilot Program participant
“The true value of this fellowship is that it literally saved my career in education reform. I was ready to quit because I was chronically fatigued and convinced I had nothing left to give. It turns out I just needed more iron, an estrogen patch, and 1.5 more hours of sleep per night! This program didn't just teach me about self-care, it gave me my fire back.”

A MESSAGE FROM KRISTE DRAGON
Dear Pahara Community,
For many years, Pahara has focused on supporting leaders as they strengthen their vision, refine their practice, and expand their impact for students and families.
But over time, we began to notice something we could no longer ignore.
Many of the leaders doing the most important work in our sector are carrying extraordinary responsibility while quietly running on empty.
In the video above, I share a bit of my own journey—what I learned when I finally looked more closely at my health and how that experience changed the way I think about leadership sustainability.
That experience ultimately led us to create Vitality.
Vitality is grounded in the same elements that define the Pahara experience—reflection, community, and purpose—but integrates something we have not historically focused on: the science of physical health and its connection to leadership capacity. Through learning about cardiovascular and metabolic health, cognitive clarity, and long-term stamina, leaders begin to understand how their physical systems support—or limit—their ability to lead over time.
In 2025, we launched a Vitality pilot with a group of Pahara Fellows. What we saw affirmed what I had experienced personally. Fellows improved their physical health and returned to their organizations with sharper thinking, greater focus, and renewed capacity to lead.
Not because they stepped away from the work.
But because they invested in the systems that make leadership possible.
This is why we believe Vitality is not a wellness program. It is a leadership sustainability experience.
If we want leaders to expand their impact, we must also help them sustain themselves in their roles.
We are excited to invite members of our community to join the inaugural Vitality program.
Because sustaining leaders is not separate from expanding impact.
It is essential to it.
With gratitude for all that you do,
Kriste
