BIOGRAPHY
Jim Blew is the cofounder of the Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies (DFI), a DC-based advocacy organization focused on federal education policy. He was the assistant secretary for planning, evaluation, and policy development at the US Department of Education under Secretary Betsy DeVos. Before the US Department, Jim advocated for education reform through leadership roles with StudentsFirst, 50CAN, and the Alliance for School Choice. From 2005 through 2014, he helped guide the Walton Family Foundation’s investments in K–12 education reform. He holds a BA from Occidental College and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
