BIOGRAPHY
Angelica Solis serves as the chief policy oficer at Education Leaders of Color (EdLoC), where she spearheads strategic policy initiatives and drives the organization’s policy and advocacy efforts to advance academic achievement and economic mobility. A seasoned nonprofit executive, Angelica brings extensive expertise in strategic planning, partnerships, policy and advocacy, coalition building, and communications—all aimed at enhancing opportunities for underserved communities across education, health, economic development, and civic engagement.
In addition to her leadership at EdLoC, Angelica is the immediate past-president on the City of Los Angeles’ Human Relations Commission, originally appointed by former Mayor Eric Garcetti in 2016 and reappointed by Mayor Karen Bass in 2022. She is a distinguished alumna of the Coro Women in Leadership program and a former national fellow of New York University’s “Lead the Way Leadership Initiative for Emerging Women of Color Executive Directors.”
Angelica’s contributions to community uplift have been honored with a Community Advocate Award from the City of Los Angeles, and in 2013, she was recognized by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a “Heroe de la Comunidad” (Community Hero). Beyond her professional pursuits, she volunteers her time with several nonprofit organizations to further her commitment to social impact.
A frequent panelist and moderator at conferences and public forums, Angelica fosters dialogue on critical issues such as educational equity, racial justice, and collaborative strategies for community engagement and movement building. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and her master’s degree from the University of Southern California. Angelica resides in Los Angeles with her children.
