Goodwill Education Initiatives/GCSI

Betsy Delgado, chief mission and education officer and senior vice president at Goodwill Education Initiatives. Betsy leads numerous programs to advance Goodwill’s education, employment and health mission programs, including Nurse-Family Partnership®, a maternal-child health initiative for low-income, first-time mothers. Under Betsy’s leadership, Goodwill Nurse-Family Partnership has helped over 5,000 Indiana families since its implementation began in 2011. Betsy leads Goodwill Education Initiatives, including The Excel Center® — 15 tuition-free adult high schools in Indiana and the National Office of The Excel Center® which includes schools in the Phoenix, AZ, Louisville, KY, District of Columbia, Memphis, TN, Little Rock, AR, Austin, TX and four schools in Missouri.

Over the last 12 years, she has led The Excel Center in celebrating over 11,000 graduates nationally. She has worked with the University of Notre Dame's Laboratory of Economic Opportunity to do a quasi-experimental study evidencing that graduates from The Excel Center make 39% more in wages after five years, and are more likely to be enrolled in college and working than their peers and all graduates-regardless of race, gender or demographics experience similar earnings outcomes.

Betsy is a 2015 Ascend fellow with the Aspen Institute and she chaired the Indiana Early Learning Advisory Committee whose appointed members offer guidance to the Governor’s Office and the Indiana General Assembly to further high-quality, educational initiatives for children from birth to eight years. She has an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
