Brian King is the Founder, and Executive Director, of Liberation Academy in College Park, Georgia. Liberation Academy opened its doors to the community in 2023. Brian’s belief that a quality education is one of the primary elements in improving economic outcomes for black and brown students is a driving force behind the development of this school. Life and career have taught him that a quality education can provide generational change for a child and their family.


Brian was born and raised in Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Language, Literature and Writing, from Eastern Michigan University. Brian also completed his Masters of Arts in Secondary Education at the University of Michigan.


After completing graduate school, Mr. King relocated to Georgia and began his career as an English teacher. He later moved into school leadership, where he held roles as an Instructional Coach, Principal-In-Residence, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal.


Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and children, live music, watching sports, physical fitness, reading, and traveling.
