BIOGRAPHY
Candace is director of college counseling at E.L. Haynes where she has helped establish the College Office as an integral part of the high school community ensuring students of every race, socioeconomic status, home language, and ability prepares to thrive in college, career, and life. Candace previously worked at Teach Plus, as founding executive director of the Washington, D.C. office, to empower teachers’ voices to improve outcomes for their students through leadership opportunities in schools, districts, states, and across the nation. Prior to Teach Plus, Candace was the assistant director for pre-K-12 school and district assistance at the Education Trust, where she worked with schools and districts to improve student assignments and provide coaching and professional development on practices to close achievement gaps. Candace has taught 6th grade math and middle and high school history. She has also worked in higher education as an assistant director of residential life and an assistant women's basketball coach. Candace served as chair of the board at Capital City Public Charter School, an award-winning expeditionary learning school in D.C. She has a bachelor's degree in history from Dartmouth College and a master's degree in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
