BIOGRAPHY
Chris Brewster is the founding Superintendent of Santa Fe South Charter Schools in Oklahoma City. Since beginning his career in education in 1992, he has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent, bringing more than three decades of experience to the field. For the past twenty-five years, he has led Santa Fe South’s growth from a single-site high school serving just over one hundred students to one of the largest charter districts in the state, now educating approximately five thousand students in Pre-K through twelfth grade.
Born in Kansas City and raised in the Philippines as the son of missionary parents, Chris returned to the United States for college. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma. His professional recognitions include being named a Milken Educator, serving as a TEDxOKC speaker, and being honored as a distinguished alumnus by both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist University.
Known widely as an advocate for children, Chris spends nearly all of time working to see his beloved Oklahoma City become the best place in the country to be a child. He is deeply grateful to his high school sweetheart, Christi, who stands with him as his best friend, wife of thirty-four years, and ringmaster/mother/partner in the rearing of their nine children, and three grandchildren.
