BIOGRAPHY

Clarisse Mendoza Davis currently leads the See Forever Foundation and Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Clarisse serves over 1,000 opportunity and justice-involved youth, as well as emerging adults, across Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Maya Team, Clarisse served students and families in urban schools in both traditional district and charter settings as Deputy Chief of Schools at the UNO Charter School Network (now the Acero Network of Schools) in Chicago, Illinois; Principal of Tindley Renaissance Academy in Indianapolis, Indiana; Chief Operating Officer of the Early Stages Division of the District of Columbia Public Schools; and English Teacher at Cardozo Senior High School in Washington, D.C.

Clarisse earned her EdD and MEd in Education Leadership from Teachers College-Columbia University. She also holds a MA in Teaching from American University and a BA with Honors in English and Music from Loyola University Chicago. Clarisse is a member of the eighth cohort of The Equity Lab's Seeding Disruption Fellowship. She is also the recipient of the The Center for Leadership Excellence’s "Forty Under 40" Award and is a member of EdLoC (Education Leaders of Color).

Clarisse enjoys spending time with her husband, William, and baking delightful sweets with her daughter, Sophia.
