BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Dowayne Davis is the chief executive officer of Philip’s Academy Charter School of Paterson, located in Paterson, NJ. Dowayne is a decorated former scholar-athlete and National Football League (NFL) player turned educator. Having served as an administrator in multiple high-performing public schools in Newark, NJ, Dowayne brings a wealth of experience in instruction, program design, school administration, information systems, governance, and operations.
Dowayne has successfully led schools for students aged 4 to 24, excelling in opening, operating, scaling, and renewing schools through dynamic transformational leadership roles. His achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including the NJ Association of Black Social Workers Exemplary Educator Award, BAAFSSO Student Academic Achievement Award, Arthur Ashe Scholar Athlete Award, Central New York Scholar Athlete Award, Syracuse University Scholar Athlete Award, 3-Time All-Academic Big East Conference Scholar Athlete recognition, All-Big East Honors, Syracuse University Class Marshal distinction, and College Football Hall of Fame Awardee (Northeast Chapter Inductee).
Dowayne holds a bachelor of science degree from Syracuse University, a master of business administration from Baruch College, a doctor of education degree from New Jersey City University, and a certification in school management and leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Business School. In his spare time, Dowayne enjoys spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle.
