BIOGRAPHY

Gabriella Barbosa is a Senior Portfolio Manager at Ballmer Group Los Angeles, where she leads strategy and investments to strengthen K–12 education systems as a pathway to economic mobility and expanded opportunity for students and families.

She brings 15 years of experience as a children’s rights advocate, attorney, and educator, working across philanthropy, government, and nonprofit leadership to expand opportunities for students from historically marginalized communities.

Previously, Gabriella served as Managing Director of The Children’s Partnership, where she led the development and implementation of a multi-issue advocacy agenda focused on improving children’s health and well-being through public policy, research, and community engagement.

She also served as Policy Director for both a Los Angeles elected official and a nonprofit advocacy organization, advancing policymaking approaches that center families, youth, and community members as drivers of systemic change.

Earlier in her career, Gabriella was a public interest attorney at Public Counsel, where she designed and led an advocacy initiative to improve academic outcomes for English Learners, immigrant students, and students from immigrant families through direct legal representation, impact litigation, policy advocacy, and community education. She also taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Gabriella earned a B.A. in International Relations and Human Rights from Columbia University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
