BIOGRAPHY
Gini has worked in education for over 25 years and currently serves as Director of National Education Strategy for the Raikes Foundation, where she leads the development and implementation of their grantmaking strategy for their K-12 and higher education portfolios. She previously worked as the founder and Executive Director for EdTrust - Tennessee, where she worked alongside partners, students and advocates to increase educational opportunity and achievement for historically underserved students. Prior to that she worked at Conexión Américas as the Senior Director of Education Policy and Programs, as Executive Director of Family and Community Partnerships for Metro Nashville Public Schools, and as a teacher at the high school and college level for over 10 years, in Seattle, San Diego and Nashville.
Gini was elected to the school board in 2018 for Metro Nashville Public Schools, serving one term, and was the first Latino/a school board member in Tennessee. She is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Nashville, and a 2018 graduate of Leadership Tennessee. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Aventura Community School, the Memorial Foundation, TIRRC Votes and on the advisory board of Brown’s Promise. Gini is married to Eddie Wright-Rios, a professor of Latin American history at Vanderbilt University, and is the proud mother of two grown children who live in Panama and Chattanooga.
