Forte Preparatory Academy

BIOGRAPHY

Graham Browne is the founder and executive director of Forte Preparatory Academy Charter School (Forte Prep), a college preparatory public charter middle school in Queens, New York. Forte Prep's academic program is focused on building a strong academic foundation in its students that is infused with performing arts, digital literacy, character education, and a deep sense of community. Forte Prep opened in August 2017 with 89 fifth graders, and by the end of its first year, outperformed the district, city, and state on state math and ELA assessments. Today, Forte Prep educates nearly 360 students in grades five through eight and is a New York State Recognition School, a title reserved for the top performing 13% of all public schools in the state. FPA is expanding to high school in 2023-24 Prior to opening Forte Prep, Graham’s professional background spanned education policy advocacy with the Education Equality Project, and nonprofit management consulting in the education practice with the Bridgespan Group. He has completed graduate coursework with Bank Street College of Education as part of the Venture Consortium’s Urban Education Semester. Through the program, Graham served as an assistant fifth-grade teacher at P.S. 20 - Anna Silver School in Manhattan, New York in 2006. Graham is a proud graduate of Brown University and Yale School of Management, with an academic background in urban studies, education, and nonprofit management. He is a former co-chair of the 2015 Education Leadership Conference at Yale. In his free time, Graham bikes, runs, plays tennis, and cooks in Jackson Heights, New York.
