BIOGRAPHY

Jim Kline is a fierce advocate for educational equity and social mobility, with more than 18 years of experience across public education, philanthropy, and social innovation. He currently serves as President and Executive Director of the DC Public Education Fund, where he works alongside educators, community stakeholders, and philanthropic partners to identify, invest in, and scale DC Public Schools’ boldest ideas. Under Jim’s leadership, the Ed Fund has raised more than $40 million to support innovative initiatives that strengthen schools and expand opportunity for students across the District.

Prior to joining the Ed Fund, Jim served as Senior Director of Program Strategy at CityBridge Education, where he led strategy and implementation for a nationally recognized education incubator supporting entrepreneurs, schools, and organizations working to expand educational opportunities for all children. Earlier in his career, he was an Investment Manager at the Philadelphia School Partnership, managing a portfolio of public school innovation grants and supporting school leaders across district and charter sectors. Jim has also served as a coach and consultant for a range of education and edtech organizations, including 4.0 Schools, Teach For America, TNTP, SchoolKit, Halcyon, and CatalystEd.

Jim began his career as a high school social studies teacher and later served as an assistant principal in New Orleans. His passion for teaching led him to win several high-profile awards, including the New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Award, St. John Parish District Teacher of the Year, and the New Orleans Saints Outstanding Teacher Award. He holds a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. Jim lives in Washington, DC with his husband and their puppy, Boston.
