BIOGRAPHY

Jonathan Tyrrell is chief schools officer at Kairos Academies in St. Louis, Missouri, where he oversees academic strategy, school leadership, and network-wide initiatives to ensure student success. Previously, Jonathan served as founding principal of Compass Rose Ingenuity Secondary School in San Antonio, Texas, launching the school during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, the school experienced top level leadership and staff retention.

Before founding Compass Rose Ingenuity, Jonathan served as a successor principal at IDEA Monterrey Park College Preparatory in San Antonio, where the campus earned "Recognized" status and achieved 100% state distinctions from the Texas Education Agency. Earlier in his career, Jonathan worked as a leadership development consultant, management consultant, high school history and special education teacher.

Jonathan is an ordained minister and has served on the command staff of various battalions under U.S. Army Special Operations Command and Military Intelligence Readiness Command. He holds certifications in PTSD counseling, marriage counseling, and suicide prevention and intervention. He has published white papers with the Army Futures and Concepts Command on ethical decision-making in future battlespaces, machine learning, and temporal compression, as well as short stories and poems in various literary journals. He has completed multiple novels, one of which is currently in revision with a major editor.

Jonathan is pursuing an EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri and a DPhil in Philosophy, Science and Religion at the University of Edinburgh. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Theology and Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary, an MDiv in Military Chaplaincy from Liberty University, an MSc in the History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in Political Science from Drew University. A 4th generation Rio Grande Valley native and current Midwest transplant, Jonathan lives with his wife, Natalie, their two children, Edith and Theodore, the family pup, Osita and the late addition family housecat, Pumpkin.
