BIOGRAPHY
Joretha Lewis serves as senior director of school supports at the Massachusetts Charter Public School Association, where she drives the design, execution, and evaluation of regional and statewide initiatives that strengthen charter school leadership, operations, and sustainability. She oversees peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing systems, including listservs and the Knowledge Center; directs high-priority sector projects, such as the annual compensation survey and the Boston charter application; and partners cross-functionally to advance advocacy and school support strategies. Joretha also leads statewide capacity-building for charter school chief financial officers and chief operating officers.
Previously, Joretha served as educator effectiveness coordinator for PK–12 leadership at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In that role, she conceptualized, launched, and led the inaugural and first-ever Massachusetts Aspiring Principal Fellowship, a statewide initiative designed to diversify the school leadership pipeline and develop equity-centered, culturally responsive leaders. She also designed and managed statewide leadership networks, served as a writer on statewide leadership assessment and policy redesign efforts, including the Massachusetts Performance Assessment for Leaders, and co-authored the Principal Induction and Mentoring Handbook.
Joretha concurrently serves as a visiting assistant professor at Salem State University and as an education and career advisor at Springfield Technical Community College. Earlier in her career, she served as the founding charter school leader and held district and school leadership roles in Georgia.
Joretha holds a Doctorate in Education in Leadership in PK–12 Schools and Districts from Gwynedd Mercy University, a Master of Science in Education in Educational Leadership K–12 from Capella University, and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia State University.
