BIOGRAPHY
Jorge Miranda is the Former Chief Schools Officer at KIPP Public Schools Northern California where he is responsible for the successful implementation of the region’s strategy for ensuring joyful, academically excellent schools for all students across KIPP NorCal’s 22 schools. In this capacity he oversees schools, academics and post-secondary success. Prior to joining KIPP NorCal, Jorge was Vice President of High Schools with the KIPP Foundation where he led KIPP’s national high school strategy, including school design, leadership training and implementation, academic health support, assessment strategy, and curriculum development. He grew the high school team from 1 to 14 and oversaw the growth of high schools across the KIPP network from 18 to 49 schools. Prior to moving out west, Jorge was a teacher and principal at Match Public High School in Boston, during which Match was recognized multiple times as one of the top charter high schools in the country by Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, and New Leaders for New Schools based on performance on state and national exams, including equitable access for all students to rigorous content. Jorge Miranda graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in government and a minor in education. Jorge was the first in his family to graduate from college and has experienced firsthand the power of a post-secondary degree in opening doors and creating opportunities. Jorge lives in Alameda, CA with his partner Molly and their four children.
