BIOGRAPHY
Matt Taylor is the Founder and CEO of The Noble Story Group. Matt has been developing leaders across the education and non-profit sectors for over 20 years. His Emotional Intelligence-based 5-Square methodology and book The Noble School Leader are used as anchor leadership development tools in CMO’s, school leader development programs, and executive coaching programs across the country.
Before founding the Noble Story Group, Matt served as Senior Director of Adaptive Leadership Development for the Achievement First, coaching and training regional superintendents, principals and leadership cohorts across the leadership pipeline. In this role Matt guided Achievement First to create a robust set of people leadership competencies, PD curriculum, and hiring processes.
Prior to this role Matt designed and founded the Residency Program for School Leadership—a principal training partnership between Achievement First and Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport Public Schools. This intensive, arc-certified year-long program included a weekly seminar series, weekly 1-1 coaching and principal mentoring, and two half-year principal residencies. It remains the only charter-district partnership of its kind to this day.
Matt started his leadership journey as the second principal of Amistad Academy Middle School. During Matt’s tenure as principal, Amistad Academy Charter School distinguished itself as the #1 middle school in the state of Connecticut for African American student achievement.
Matt is an ICF PCC-certified executive coach. He earned his Ed.M. in Administration, Policy and Planning from Harvard Graduate School of Education, a M.S. in Elementary Education from Barry University Graduate School of Education, and a B.A. in History from Carleton College. He received his executive coaching training at the Teleos Leadership Institute in Philadelphia. Matt is also the father of two mostly launched young adults, the partner of an incredibly talented social policy maker, a choral musician, and an aspiring triathlete.
