BIOGRAPHY

Rachel Valentin is the Executive Director of the Charter School of New Castle Elementary School in New Castle, DE; serving students in grades K-4 (443+). Rachel has been instrumental in leading collective change and transforming the culture of the Charter School of New Castle starting from 2014-15 to this current year. During her tenure, she led the school toward improved student experiences, inclusivity, consistent routines and systems, positive staff and student culture, academic programming and parent partnership.

Rachel serves as an adjunct professor with 4th Dimension Leaders; a leader development program and formerly with Relay Graduate School of Education. Rachel's professional experience started at JPMorgan Chase in New York, where she was responsible for the strategic development and launch of new products for high profile clients and management of traditional credit/banking products.

Rachel transitioned out of the world of banking/finance in 2010 and supported policy campaign initiatives in New York City and shortly thereafter shifted to Education. Rachel was a teacher with Uncommon Schools in Brooklyn, NY and also served as Math Curriculum Planner and Instructional Coach. These career changes have made a difference in shaping the leader that Rachel is today.

Rachel has earned a Master’s degree in Education from Hunter College and Urban Affairs, Policy & Public Administration from Brooklyn College.. Rachel obtained a degree in History from Spelman College.

Rachel is a proud Haitian-American, influenced by Haiti's story of freedom and resilience and the strength of her parents who modeled success as immigrants to the United States.
