BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri is the Chief Program Officer at One Million Degrees – an Education Non-Profit that accelerates economic mobility for low-income students by positively impacting college enrollment, persistence, and career success. Prior to serving in this role, she served as the superintendent of Kalamazoo Public Schools. She has over two decades of experience in education from teacher to principal to central office leader. Prior to leading the Kalamazoo Public Schools, she worked for Chicago Public Schools where she served in multiple capacities, including executive director of Early College and Career Education where she implemented processes and systems to provide students with rigorous, relevant, college-level, hands-on, and career-focused courses and facilitated the design and implementation of high-quality STEM learning environments. Rita earned her doctorate in urban education leadership from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She also holds a master’s degree in education from Chapman University, and a bachelor's degree in environmental sciences from the University of California, Davis. She has had fellowships at the Erickson Institute in Chicago; Northwestern University; and the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Raichoudhuri is an avid traveler, passionate about social justice, and loves the arts, museums, live performances, good food, and long walks in nature.
