BIOGRAPHY
Rob Sgobbo is the Chief of Staff to the Chief Schools Officer at Uncommon Schools. In his current role, Rob has led and supported key initiatives to improve school performance in the 5 regions Uncommon operates - leading to significant academic progress that outpaced city and statewide averages and growth on NJ, NY and MA state exams.
Rob joined Uncommon in 2011, and since then, has held several school and regional leadership positions - including founding Kings Elementary School in Brooklyn, NY, and serving as a Regional Superintendent of Instruction for K-8 schools in New York City. During that time, he managed a portfolio of elementary and middle schools and supported the region’s efforts in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, its return to in-person learning and learning acceleration efforts to improve academic performance.
Rob began his career as a Teach For America Corps Member, teaching in an elementary school in the South Bronx. Rob holds a BA from Haverford College, and masters degrees from Pace University, Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the Yale School of Management.
