BIOGRAPHY

Shareyna Chang is the chief of staff for Richmond Public Schools, serving as the superintendent’s deputy and lead strategic advisor. In this role, she guides division-wide strategic planning, budget and finance, and organizational health, aligning senior leaders across departments to deliver on the district’s most urgent priorities. Her work ensures that internal systems and strategies reinforce the district’s long-term vision and day-to-day execution.

Previously, Shareyna served as the deputy chief of staff for Indianapolis Public Schools. In collaboration with parents, students, and community stakeholders, she co-led the development and codification of Rebuilding Stronger, a seven-year reorganization plan that reimagined the structure of the district. The plan expanded equitable school choice, secured a $410 million capital referendum, and was rooted in community engagement. During her time at Indianapolis Public Schools, she also held district roles in talent strategy, portfolio strategy, and school quality evaluation.

Prior to that, Shareyna worked in the Indianapolis Mayor’s Office of Education Innovation, monitoring and analyzing the academic and governance health of the city’s public charter schools. She began her career as a first- and second-grade teacher, which has helped her remember to always keep kids at the center.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental affairs from Indiana University and a master’s degree in teaching from Marian University.
