BIOGRAPHY
Sofia Roditti is the chief executive officer of Equitas Academy. She began her role in July 2022, working alongside educators, families, and partners to advance the organization’s impact in the Pico Union community. Her leadership is rooted in equity and committed to fostering scholars’ academic, socio-emotional, and leadership development.
With 27 years of experience in K-12 public education, Sofia has taught and led in California’s two largest school districts. Before joining Equitas, Sofia served as chief of staff, chief academic officer, and area superintendent at San Diego Unified School District, overseeing nearly 100,000 scholars. Prior to that, she supervised all middle schools in the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools. In 2007, she led Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights, as the principal of one of the largest high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District serving over 5 thousand students. She began her career as a middle school teacher in South Los Angeles. Sofia holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fullerton, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern California. As the daughter of immigrants, Sofia was raised with the values of dreaming boldly, working hard, and advocating for others. Growing up as a Latina in Los Angeles, these values have shaped her lifelong commitment to leading for equity.
