BIOGRAPHY

Stephanie Frenel is the founder and chief executive officer of Fair Schools. Founded in 2021, Fair Schools works with principals to change their school environment by integrating research-based instructional practices, social emotional learning, and family partnerships. Previously, Stephanie was a program officer at Schusterman Family Philanthropies. There she helped lead their school systems partnerships portfolio and played a role in the development of the foundation’s grantmaking strategy on literacy instructional improvement to improve outcomes for Black and Latinx students in large urban districts.

Stephanie has served as a school leader, instructional coach, and special education teacher in predominantly Black and Latinx communities, including in the Bay Area, New York, and Washington, DC. She has a master’s degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Education in policy, organization, and leadership studies and a bachelor’s in international politics from Georgetown University.
