BIOGRAPHY

Dr. R. Suzanne Legg is an experienced educational leader, researcher, and advocate for equitable access to high-quality education. Suzanne earned her B.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University, where she began her career as a preschool teacher. She went on to teach both 3rd and 4th grades before transitioning into leadership.
In 2000, Dr. Legg co-founded Dayspring Academy, the first charter school in Pasco County, Florida. Under her leadership, Dayspring has grown into a high-performing K–12 institution that serves students from Early Learning through Early College. Through a unique partnership with the local state college, graduates earn both their high school diplomas and associate degrees. Despite serving a predominantly underserved population, Dayspring Academy has consistently ranked among the top schools in the county.
Suzanne serves on the board of Family Support Services and is the vice-chair of the Florida Charter School Review Commission. She is a current fellow for the Florida Charter Institute. Suzanne served as a founding member and secretary of the Pasco County chapter of the Florida Commission on the Status of Women and also served as a founding member of FTGI, For the Girls, International.
Dr. Legg holds a Professional Educator’s Certificate in Educational Leadership and Social Science and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of South Florida as well as a Graduate Certificate in Diversity in Education. A first-generation college student, Dr. Legg is a lifelong learner who believes deeply in the transformative power of education.
