Lone Rock Guest Standards

Pahara Institute at Lone Rock is more than a retreat destination; it is a leadership environment designed to cultivate clarity, courage, and sustained impact. We believe that the environment shapes leadership. The way we show up—in shared spaces, in conversation, and in community—directly influences the quality of reflection, connection, and growth that happens here. This requires a shared commitment from every guest to uphold a set of values that center both individual experience and collective wellbeing.

Furthermore, Lone Rock sits on the ancestral homeland of the Ute people, who have long stewarded this land and continue to hold deep ties to it. We are honored to be long-term guests of this place, and that relationship carries responsibility. The way we care for this campus — its land, its waters, and its natural surroundings — is one expression of that ongoing stewardship.

We ask all guests and booking partners to engage with this space through the following principles:

Owner’s Mindset

Care for the campus, its people, and its resources as if they were your own. Small actions—how we treat rooms, shared spaces, and one another—compound into the overall experience.

Respect for Community

Lone Rock is a shared environment. We honor each other by being mindful, inclusive, and generous in how we engage—recognizing that each person is here for meaningful work and reflection.

Presence & Purpose

This is a space intentionally designed for focus and renewal. We encourage guests to be fully present, engage deeply, and contribute to an atmosphere that supports learning and growth.

Stewardship of Place

Surrounded by natural beauty, we hold a responsibility to protect and respect the land. Our actions should reflect care for the environment and sustainability for future guests

Trust & Accountability

A strong community is built on trust. We hold ourselves accountable to high standards of integrity, safety, and professionalism in all interactions.

The Lone Rock Guest Standards are not simply a set of rules—they are a shared agreement that allows Lone Rock to be a place where leaders can do their best thinking, connect authentically, and leave better equipped to serve others.

1. Community Expectations

Respect for Others

Treat all guests, staff, and partners with dignity, professionalism, and kindness.
Foster an environment of inclusion where diverse perspectives are welcomed.
Uphold a culture of respect and professionalism in all interactions—every guest deserves to feel safe, valued, and included.

Shared Spaces & Community Living

Unless a group has reserved the full property, spaces such as wellness areas, seminar rooms, the lodge, and outdoor grounds are shared.
Be mindful of noise levels, particularly in the early morning and evening.
Respect designated group spaces and boundaries established during your stay.

2. Use of Property & Facilities

Stewardship of Campus

Guests are expected to care for all facilities, guest rooms, and natural surroundings.
Any damage beyond normal wear and tear will be charged to the booking party.
Rooms left in unreasonable condition may incur additional cleaning fees.

Room & Space Use

Rooms, meeting spaces, and facilities may not be reassigned, resold, or transferred to individuals outside the booking group.
Unauthorized room changes or reassignment may result in additional fees.

Non-Smoking Policy

Lone Rock is a non-smoking campus. Violations, including vaping, will result in significant fines.

3. Safety & Wellbeing

Guest Eligibility

All guests must be 21 years of age or older.

Controlled Substances

Controlled substance use — including smoking, vaping, edibles, and topical products — is not permitted on the Lone Rock campus, indoors or outdoors; even if legal in the state of Colorado.
Prescription medications are permitted for personal, medically necessary use only and should be stored securely.
Guests who appear impaired by any substance may be asked to leave the campus at Lone Rock staff discretion.
Violations of this policy will result in significant fines, consistent with the Non-Smoking Policy outlined above.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol may only be served by Lone Rock in accordance with licensing requirements.
No outside alcohol is permitted on campus.
Service may be refused to any guest who appears intoxicated or underage.
Be mindful of alcohol consumption while using the sauna, hot tub, or other spa facilities. These activities carry increased risk when combined with alcohol.
Glass is not permitted in outdoor areas, including spa and pool areas. Please use the provided alternative drinkware when enjoying beverages outside.

Emergency & Contact Information

Booking parties must provide complete guest information in advance of arrival to ensure safety and preparedness.
Booking parties are responsible for collecting emergency contact information for all of their guests.

Transportation Awareness

Due to the remote nature of the campus, rideshare services are not available for guests leaving the campus; guests must plan transportation accordingly.

4. Event & Program Conduct

Alignment with Purpose

Events should align with the spirit of human flourishing, inclusive of leadership development, wellness, strategic deliberation, reflection, and community engagement for the betterment of K-12 education.
Activities that disrupt the campus environment or conflict with Pahara’s mission may be restricted.

Planning & Participation

Booking parties are responsible for providing accurate guest lists, dietary needs, and accommodations at least 14 days in advance.
Additional activities and amenities must be arranged in advance and are not guaranteed otherwise.
Groups conducting productions are expected to uphold the same standards of guest consent outlined in this section.

Meeting & Event Etiquette

Use provided meeting resources responsibly.
Leave meeting spaces clean and organized after use.

6. Vendors, Services & External Partners

All third-party vendors must be approved by Lone Rock and may be required to provide insurance documentation.
Booking parties are responsible for all vendor-related costs and coordination.

5. Photography & Videography

Respect for Privacy

Guests are asked to be thoughtful and considerate when taking photos or videos on campus. Photographing or recording other guests without their knowledge or explicit consent is not permitted.
Guests who prefer not to be photographed or recorded are encouraged to communicate that preference to their event leader.
When in doubt, ask. A simple check-in goes a long way.

Marketing & Promotional Use

Pahara Institute at Lone Rock is committed to protecting the privacy of our guests. If we ever intend to use photos or videos taken during a program or event for marketing or promotional purposes, a photo release form will be distributed in advance and participation will be entirely voluntary.

Planned Photo & Video Productions

Guests and booking parties planning organized photo or video shoots — including interviews, b-roll, or any coordinated recording activity — must receive prior approval from Lone Rock leadership before proceeding. This includes confirmation of approved locations, as certain areas of the campus have access restrictions for safety reasons.

7. Financial Responsibility

Booking Party Accountability

The booking organization is financially responsible for:
Damages to property
Additional cleaning or service fees
Incidentals not covered in the original agreement

Individual Guest Responsibility

Guests are responsible for personal incidental expenses, including optional amenities and lost-and-found shipping.

8. Environmental Stewardship

Follow all guidelines for trails, wildlife, and outdoor spaces — treat them with care and leave them undisturbed for those who follow.
Avoid littering and minimize waste whenever possible.
Avoid leaving food or food waste in outdoor areas. Lone Rock's natural surroundings are home to local wildlife and unsecured food can create safety risks.

9. Enforcement & Accountability

Lone Rock staff reserve the right to:
- Address behavior that violates these Lone Rock Guest Standards
- Remove individuals or groups from campus for serious violations
- Apply fees or penalties as outlined in booking agreements

Repeated or severe violations may impact eligibility for future bookings.
