Below you will find information regarding travel to Bailey, Colorado and Pahara’s health and safety protocols for in-person gatherings at Lone Rock Retreat:

BOOKING YOUR FLIGHT:
Book your flight to/from Denver International Airport (DEN).
Plan your arrival on Monday to allow enough time for you to catch one of the Denver (DEN) airport shuttles. You are expected to be at Lone Rock Retreat in time to participate in the 5:00 pm opening reception, dinner, and evening programming.
Our program will end at 12:00 pm on Friday. Flight departures from Denver (DEN) on Friday should NOT depart before 3:00 pm.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION:
Bailey, CO, is approximately 1 hour and 15-45 minutes southwest of Denver International Airport (DEN). Shuttle service arrangements will be made to transport you to Lone Rock Retreat on Monday, [MONTH], [DAY], [YEAR], and return you to the Denver airport on Friday, [MONTH], [DAY], [YEAR].
On Monday, there will be two (2) shuttle groups to transport you FROM Denver International Airport (DEN) TO Lone Rock Retreat:
The first shuttle will depart DEN at 12:00 pm MT. Your flight must land by 11:30 am local time (MT) in order to catch the noon shuttle.
The last shuttle will depart DEN airport at 3:00 pm MT. Your flight must land by 2:30 pm local time (MT) in order to catch the 3:00 pm shuttle.
If your travel plans fall outside of the above shuttle schedule, you will be responsible for the cost of ground transportation between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Lone Rock Retreat.
While ride share options MIGHT be available from DEN to Lone Rock, options ARE NOT AVAILABLE back to DEN.
Car service is the reliable provider on the mountain. Car service must be booked at least 48 hours in advance. The average rate is approximately $280 for one-way, non-stop service.
Self-parking is extremely limited at Lone Rock. If you plan to drive yourself, please reach out to the Pahara team to discuss arrival and departure times, and parking instructions.
The travel expense reimbursement allowance for your seminar is $700. Should your travel expenses exceed the $700 allowance, or if covering the difference in cost would be challenging for you or your organization, please let us know prior to making your travel arrangements.
Eligible expenses include:
Flights & checked luggage;
Taxis, Uber and/or Lyft services;
Airport parking (non-valet);
Mileage driven - to be reimbursed at the federal rate;
Buses, shuttles, metros, or other public transit services.
Pahara’s travel allowance is only applicable toward main economy (including basic economy) flights.
Cabin upgrades (ex. economy plus, premium economy, business, first class, Southwest Anytime and Business Select) and in-flight extras (wi-fi) will not be reimbursed.
If you plan to upgrade your seat, we ask that you first purchase an economy seat prior to upgrading. This will verify the cost of the main economy flight and expedite the reimbursement process.
Travel insurance will not be reimbursed.
Pahara will provide a reimbursement form to seminar participants at the conclusion of the seminar, and will accept completed forms with receipts at that time.
Reimbursements will not be processed prior to the seminar dates.
Pahara monitors CDC guidelines and works closely with the staff at Lone Rock to ensure your gathering will take place in as safe and as comfortable an environment as possible.
Please refer to Pahara's current guidelines for your event. Note that these are subject to change. If changes are necessary, we will share final protocols approximately a week before your event.
Please email fellows@pahara.org with any updated dietary restrictions, health concerns, or other special needs and accommodations that you might have during your stay at Lone Rock.

Buses, shuttles, metros, or other public transit services.
Ineligible expenses include:
Cabin, or seat upgrades (ex. priority seating, economy plus, premium economy, business, first class, Southwest Anytime and Business Select);
If you plan to upgrade your seat, first purchase an economy seat prior to upgrading. This will verify the cost of the main economy flight and expedite the reimbursement process.
In-flight extras (ex. wi-fi);
Alcoholic beverages while traveling;
Travel day meals;
Travel insurance;
Hotel stays bookending events, except for medical accommodation.
Pahara will provide a reimbursement form to seminar participants at the conclusion of the seminar, and will accept completed forms with receipts at that time.

WHAT TO EXPECT
AT LONE ROCK
Lone Rock Retreat Center is a 7-acre village nestled into the Colorado hillside with connecting trails and footpaths. It includes:
a 3-story main lodge with multiple areas for reconnecting, relaxing, and eating;
a seminar building for up to two groups;
a wellness / fitness center; and
60 guest room cabins spread across the campus, each with one full size bed.
Lone Rock is an eco-responsible retreat center, so housekeeping services will not be provided during our stay. Fresh towels and additional cabin items (shampoo, coffee, etc…) will be stocked in each room and refreshed upon request.
Snacks and drinks are available throughout the campus common areas. Lone Rock has several self-serve BEVI machines onsite.
Lone Rock is a non-smoking facility. Absolutely no smoking, of any kind, is allowed on any area of the property.
The weather at Lone Rock can vary considerably within a single day. Dress in layers and check the forecast for Bailey, CO to see what’s on the horizon.
When packing, besides the usual stuff, consider bringing:
Comfortable clothing. Again, layering including layering is recommended.
Comfortable walking shoes; Hiking shoes or boots if you want to explore (all walking paths are smoothed dirt; heels and white sneakers are not recommended).
A swimsuit
Sunscreen and sunglasses
A rain jacket
A water bottle
Wifi is readily available throughout the campus. Mobile phone coverage quality varies by provider but is sometimes spotty. You can get a rough idea of your coverage using Signal Checker (enter zip code 80421).
Lone Rock’s elevation is approximately 7,743 ft / 2,360 m above sea level, with nearby hikes as high as 9,700 ft. If you’re not accustomed to this altitude, you will feel it! Each room in Lone Rock features an in-room oxygen supply on the headboard of the bed to help you acclimate.
There is less oxygen and less humidity available to you than at sea level, and a variety of symptoms can result. They include:
nausea
insomnia
diarrhea
constipation
"gas"
restlessness
shortness of breath
fast heart beat
headache
nasal congestion
cough
fatigue
There are things you can do to minimize your symptoms:
DON'T OVERDO - Physical exertion will affect your response to altitude; take it easy for the first day.
EAT LIGHTLY AND DRINK PLENTY OF LIQUIDS - You are prone to dehydration and constipation at altitude, so drinking lots of water and not overeating can help. Limit alcohol consumption as it aggravates high altitude symptoms.
GET PLENTY OF SLEEP - Overexertion and lack of sleep can result in more severe and persistent altitude symptoms.
MEDICATION - If you know you experience altitude sickness, check with your doctor about the possibility of getting a prescription for altitude sickness medication.
Most people are able to adjust to the altitude within a day or so. If symptoms persist or worsen, please share them so we can make sure you get the support and care you need. It is important that you notice if your body is reacting to the altitude and take appropriate steps to mitigate the effects so that you can have an enjoyable experience.
